How The AA Big Book And The 12 Steps and 12 Traditions Changed My Life...

It was over 12 years ago when I woke up in the drunk tank of my counties jail for the third time in less than 3 years for drunk driving. In a moment of clarity, from where it came I have no idea, I knew once and for all I was beat. I had finally realized that alcohol had won and I at that moment had surrendered. My mother, whom had already several years of sobriety, called that day while I was willing and made arrangements for me to be admitted into a treatment center. I made a promise to myself to give the treatment center and the program of Alcoholics Anonymous my best efforts.

The treatment center was completely focused on the "Alcoholics Anonymous Big Book" and "The 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous". It was entrenched in me those first 30 days that if I embraced and applied the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous and attended AA meetings my chances of a successful happy and joyous sober life was increased significantly.

Over the past 12 years I have seen literally hundreds of people come and go in the AA program and it is always the same reason they fail. They don't do the 12 steps and they quit going to meetings. I learned how not to drink 12 years ago but today I still continue to learn how to live a more spiritual fruitful life. My only goal to be happy, joyous and free.

The recovery and meditation books such as The 12 Steps and 12 Traditions, Daily Reflections, As Bill Sees It, 24 Hours A Day, and so many others are vital in turning an ordinary or even miserable existence of sobriety into a life of sobriety and spirituality beyond your wildest dreams. The investment you make in your sobriety will result in the rewards of your sobriety
